Emerald hills roll beneath skies that shift by the hour—sunlight one minute, soft rain the next. In dimly lit pubs, pints are poured with care as folk tunes spill from corners worn smooth by time. Crumbling castles cling to cliffs above crashing waves, quiet witnesses to centuries of legend and loss. Ireland is a land of stories—some told, some sung, others carved into stone and left for the curious to find.
From the vibrant rhythm of Belfast to the windswept drama of the Wild Atlantic Way, this is a country where myth and memory swirl together in the mist. Whether you’re tracing ancestral roots or just chasing a perfectly poured glass of whiskey, Ireland greets you with a wink, a warm welcome, and the promise of something unforgettable.
Our journey this time takes us—no, beckons us—to the heart of Dublin and the historic Liberties district, home to the Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin. This property holds a special distinction: it’s the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Ireland. But it’s more than a modern hotel—it’s built on ancient ground. During construction, workers unearthed layers of the past, including an 11th-century etched slate, offering a glimpse into Dublin’s medieval roots. Here, history isn’t just preserved—it rises to meet you.
The Price of Perspective

A night at the Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin will cost you €291, or with its recent move to a Category 5 property, 20,000 World of Hyatt points. When I stayed, I wasn’t able to use a suite upgrade reward, but I did book the Cathedral View Suite for 35,000 points. For this trip, having a view mattered (more on that in a moment), and this suite delivered. If you’re going to wake up in Dublin, you might as well do it with a front-row seat to St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
If that price feels a little steep and you’re hoping to explore other options, you’re out of luck. This is the only Hyatt in Dublin. In fact, it’s the only Hyatt property in all of Ireland. That’s not just a missed opportunity—it’s a real loss for Hyatt loyalists. Ireland is packed with destinations that deserve Hyatt’s attention. Still, this one delivers in more ways than one. I’ll spoil the ending now—you should stay here. Thinking of visiting Dublin? Make your reservation here and thank me later.
In the Heart of It: Location and Arrival

You don’t just stay in the Liberties—you plug into one of Dublin’s oldest beating hearts. This district dates back to the 10th century, when it sat just outside the medieval city walls, exempt from taxes and full of character. The name itself hails from the 12th century, when the Abbey of St. Thomas the Martyr was granted land here. By the 18th and 19th centuries, the Liberties was a whiskey-soaked engine of industry.
That legacy hasn’t vanished—it lingers in the cobblestones, the murals, the pubs, and the people. Hyatt understood the assignment. This hotel feels stitched into the fabric of the neighborhood, not airlifted in.
Arriving is simple—if you do it right. Skip the taxi. It’ll crawl through traffic and rob you of time better spent exploring Temple Bar or finding a quiet pub without a TripAdvisor sticker. The Dublin Express? Cheaper. Faster. Drops you mere steps from the hotel. Literally.
The Liberties might seem a little off-center on the map, but walk it once and you’ll realize the truth: Dublin is compact, vibrant, and rewards your curiosity. St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Grafton Street, Trinity College—they’re all close. And if your legs call it quits, public transit is easy, efficient, and practically on your doorstep.
A Welcome Worth the Wait

After a delayed flight out of Scotland and far too many hours in transit limbo, we arrived in Dublin ready for two things: a hot shower and a horizontal surface. Thankfully, check-in at the Hyatt Centric was seamless.
There was a long queue at the main desk—likely due to a conference spillover—but the World of Hyatt member line stood empty like a velvet rope to sanity. It’s moments like that when loyalty pays off. Without it, we might’ve been waiting just feet from rest.
As we approached, a staff member was already waiting. No awkward waving, no lingering glances—just a warm greeting, swift check-in, room keys in hand, and a subtle gesture toward the elevators. Nothing flashy. Just that quiet, confident hospitality that says, “You’re here. We’ve got you.”
Room With a (Real) View

This was my second time in Dublin. The first? My honeymoon. That trip came with all the romance—minus one important detail. We stayed at a different hotel, one without real windows. We never saw nightfall. We went to bed before ten and woke up having missed the entire Irish night sky. That always stuck with me.
So this time, I made it a priority. And this room delivered.

We booked the Cathedral View Suite, and two-thirds of the space is wrapped in windows. You can watch the light shift across the Dublin skyline without ever leaving the bed. This time, we saw night fall. Stars. Darkness. Moonlight. The things we missed the first time around.
Now, the cathedral view isn’t postcard-perfect. You’ll catch glimpses, not grandeur. But sipping coffee while the rooftops of Dublin wake up with you? That’s a different kind of magic.
Inside, the suite hits the Hyatt notes: clean lines, blackout curtains, large flat-screen, a proper coffee station, and enough space to breathe. It’s exactly what you expect—but somehow still feels better than that.
Skip the Hotel Bar—This Is Dublin

The Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin has one main bar and one main restaurant. I’m sure both are perfectly fine—well-appointed, thoughtfully staffed, and offering something cold and comforting at the end of a long day. But we didn’t try them. Not once.
Because here’s the thing: you’re in Dublin. One of the best drinking cities on the planet. A place where the pubs aren’t just venues—they’re living, breathing storytellers. Why sip something generic in the hotel lobby when the soul of the city is just steps away, waiting to be poured in a pint glass, chased with conversation, and maybe a fiddle or two?
There’s nothing wrong with staying in. But in Dublin, going out isn’t optional—it’s a ritual. And if you’re staying at a Hyatt, you’ve already got the comfort part covered. Let the city take care of the rest.
Dublin Beyond the Pint

Let’s be honest: you will probably visit the Guinness Storehouse and Jameson Distillery while you’re here. You might wander through Temple Bar or stop in at The Brazen Head—it’s Dublin, after all. But remember, there is more to this city than what flows from the taps. You could lose an entire weekend exploring its history, art, and culture, if you are willing to step beyond the usual tourist routes.
The Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin puts you within walking distance of St. Stephen’s Green, Trinity College, and my personal favorite: the Teeling Whiskey Distillery, located just a few feet from the hotel. Teeling opened in 2015 as the first new distillery in Dublin in more than 125 years. Take the tour, enjoy a tasting, and thank me later—because there is more to Irish whiskey than you might think.
Ireland is as much about stories as it is about stout. Make time for both, and you will see why Dublin keeps calling people back.
Final Thoughts

Even if Hyatt opened another property in Dublin, I’d still choose to stay here. The Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin just makes sense. It’s in the heart of the action but far enough from the noise, and the convenience of getting here from the airport makes it an easy choice—especially after a long flight.
With its move to a Category 5 property, the points rate has gone up, and while I probably wouldn’t spend the extra to guarantee the Cathedral View Suite again, I wouldn’t turn down an upgrade either. For most travelers, a standard room here will more than do the job—and still leave you with a view of something that feels like Dublin.
Ireland is rich with history, heart, and the kind of soul you don’t find just anywhere. And this Hyatt gives you the key to experience it all without friction. Stay here. Step outside. Let Dublin do the rest.
